Park History

  • The English Park, located in Castelgrande in Basilicata, about 1,000 m.a.s.l. covers an area of two hectares in the Coppolo locality.
  • Designed by Professor Spicciarelli and dedicated to the famous botanist Guglielmo Gasparrini, the park was built in 2012 using European funds.
  • Initially managed by the Gasparrini Association, it then came under the management of the Aphelion Association and, since 2020, has been administered by the Inti Aps Association.
  • The park is surrounded by an ancient oak forest crossed by a small stream. Within it are numerous varieties of trees, shrubs, creepers and fruit trees that complement the native flora.

History of Inti

  • The association was founded in 2020 with the aim of restoring life to the Park of Colors, which was in a state of neglect at the time, and promoting the preservation of Lucanian biodiversity.
  • The name "Inti," of Quechua origin, means "light bearers," a concept that reflects the association's mission: to bring light and hope to the Lucanian Apennines.
  • Since 2020, art gardeners Valentina Di Carlo and Lorenzo Staderini have been designing and "playing" with the flowering cycles of native plants and introduced species, ensuring consistent blooms and alternating colors.
  • The association's main activity is breeding native butterflies and raising awareness of pollinator protection.
  • Currently, the association is involved in the planning, maintenance and management of the park, also organizing guided tours and workshops.
